Day 3

820a- Now that I am of an age where I am both lazy & can afford convenience fees, I have now added Brazilian waxes to my beauty regime. So every 4-5 weeks, I schedule myself a early Saturday morning wax. I’ve been going to the same place since the beginning of the year (thanks to a bomb GroupOn) and eventually I decided it was worth it to pay for the monthly membership fee ($45 every 1st of the month). The process is honestly so fast, I’m in and out in 13 minutes. So after that I walked around the corner to this cute neighborhood coffee shop, Meraki, grabbed an iced lavender honey latte (my current craze) & an everything bagel with cream cheese. ($10 tip + $8.65)

930a- Saturday mornings are nice to have to myself. We just drove to the bay area in my car last weekend, so I decide to get the I-5 gunk washed off. I go to this local spot who runs it through an automated wash and then hand wipe/semi-detail afterwards. I pay full price and cash back (bc I never seem to remember to stop by the ATM to pull cash) for tip. They do a great job & even compliment me on my car (: ($25.99 + $20 cash back)

1p- Boyf gets off work and we’re both starving. We know we better eat before we run errands and agree to eat at our fave Hawaiian spot, Homestyle Hawaiian, even though its the complete opposite direction of our errands. I order a mix plate with their lava chicken & korean chicken and, of course, we can’t forget our deep fried spam musubi. I cover lunch since I still owe from dinner last night. ($42.99 + tip)

2p- As usual, I need dessert. Luckily for me, a boba drink is my fix! We go to a local tea shop, Gotcha Cafe, and order a winter oolong milk tea with boba less sweet. ($4.75)

3p- We end up at Target first since grocery shopping usually involves us buying cold/frozen food. I return a bralette I bought the completely wrong size in. We both venture off into our respective clearance sections. I end up with 3 bralettes (comfort > everything) and boyf ends up with a pair of pants and shirt, all clearance! We walk the rest of the shop and thankfully don’t fall for Target’s usual tricks. We charge our purchases to our joint account, since that’s what we’ve tied our RedCard to, so I don’t count it as my free money.

4p- Sprouts has been our go-to grocery store, especially since they opened one 2 miles from our place. We buy our usual meal prep stuff: mixed greens lettuce, chicken breasts and avocados. I try to branch out and try out some new kombucha (which I’ve heard you just have to find your flavor), some new protein oatmeal (for morning breakfasts) and these huge ass white peaches (which honestly I think are nectarines, but I’ll take it since they’re the texture I prefer). Our first transaction was a price matching of our boogie pup’s raw food, the price changed in the week we had purchased it so we had that adjusted and bought another bag (we saved like $40!), Boyf paid for that. I pay for this week’s groceries and we call it even between all our meals/groceries. ($58.87)

7p- We chill for the rest of the evening, cooking whatever we had left in the freezer. We make some sliders and tater tots. I prep veggie based pasta with the left over ground beef for next week’s meal prep (salad + 8 oz pasta). We open a bottle of Rose from that winery we went to for our roommate’s birthday and it tastes just as good as I recall! We still shuffle through Netflix and can’t agree, I head to sleep bc I have a feeling I’m getting sick.

Daily Total: $171.25

Day 2

730a- No more pastries from 85, so I’m drinking my iced coffee and water on the way to work. It’s Friday so it’s always good vibes going in.

1120a- Today’s a light day in the lab and I’m starving since I had nothing to eat for breakfast. I decide to eat half of the chicken sandwich my boyf packed for me.

1140a- A couple of minutes later, my coworker mentions she wants some Hawaiian BBQ and who am I to say no on a Friday?! I volunteer to drive since I got a new car this month and drive 10 minutes to our closest L&L. I decide since I’ve already had half a sandwich, I’ll only order a katsu musubi ($3.13). But since it’s Friday and we’re getting wild, there’s one of my go-to boba spots next door, Dingtea, so I  grab a large jasmine green milk tea half sweet with boba ($5.14). $8.27

6p- Typically during the week I’m pretty good at eating from home but once Friday creeps up on me, I seem to have no sense of self control. My boyf & I have stumbled upon this new sushi joint about a month ago and CANNOT quit it. It’s this new temaki (hand roll) sushi bar that just opened up and is the only one of its kind in San Diego (J/Wata)! I love this place bc they do have an available set menu (Go, $21.75, for 5 hand rolls) and offer individual rolls if you happen to have a favorite you can’t get enough of. Since we’re now seasoned vets, I order an extra Negi Salmon roll and a Blue crab roll. Boyf, grabs the newly featured blue fin roll, bay scallops and negi salmon. We decide it’s easier if one of us pays and we “divi” it up amongst us later.

7p- As content & full as I was, I always have room for dessert! We’re on one of the most popular food strips in SD, so we decide to risk our lives and j-walk across the street to The Churreria Cafe. I grabbed my favorite maple glazed & bacon bits churro, while boyf got fruity pebbled churros filled with different custards. I decide to pay for this tab since he already paid more for dinner. $12.39

10p- We decide to bum it in bed, shuffle through Netflix and decide on watching Amazing Interiors while I dose off.
